The suburbs changed during the 1920's because they experienced high growth due to better transportation that was available at the time and it became cheaper to live in suburbs. For the first time in the 1920's, more American's lived in large cities than they did on farms. The country experienced a huge growth an the total wealth doubled between the years of 1920-1929. This pulled most Americans into a consumer society that was very unfamiliar to them.
