Solution: A rhombus abcd  whose area is 72 square units.

Diagonals ac and bd intersect each other at point e.

Also, db= x-1,

ec = 8 units, so, ac=16 units → as diagonals of rhombus bisect each other.

→Area of Rhombus = 1/2 × Product of Diagonals

→ 72 = 1/2×16×(x-1)

→144= 16 (x-1)

Dividing both sides by 16,we get

→ x-1=9

→ x=9+1

x=10 units
