Necrotic tissue is a medical disease characterized by the presence of dead cells in a body organ. The cells die as a result of a lack of oxygen and an interrupted blood flow. It causes the cells to become acidic, causing enzymes to be released that break the cells.
Injury, infection, cancer, infarction, toxins, and inflammation are all examples of external causes of necrosis. When healthy tissue dies and becomes dehydrated, generally as a result of local ischemia, black necrotic tissue forms.
