Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace were  the scientist and naturalist who proposed and developed the theory of evolution by natural selection.

What is theory of evolution?

According to theory of evolution "the process in which all species of organisms arise and develop through the natural selection of small, inherited variations that increase the individual's ability to compete, survive, and reproduce.

The main features of theory of evolution are:

  • individuals of a species are not identical
  • characters are trasfered from one generation to next generation
  • the number  of survival species are less than the born species
  • the survivors are able to reproduce

Therefore, Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace both developed and proposed the theory of evolution by natural selection.
