To what extent was FDR continuing the legacy of Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson?Explain and defend your answer.

Respuesta :

Answer:

Franklin D Roosevelt is remembered as one of the finest Presidents in the history of the United States. To a large extent, he did follow on the footsteps of his predecessors President Wilson and President Theodore Roosevelt.

Explanation:

Learning from both the presidents, he used his power to ensure that the Federal government steps in to help the States and revitalize the economy during the Great Depression.

Both men saw a time of gradual dominance of America in the world and FDR took it one step further. As the War president during World War II, he shaped American politics and left a legacy that helped US dominate world affairs.

As a power vacuum was created, he wanted to fill it with America's value. A chance that President Wilson also took during World War I.

Similar to Theodore Roosevelt, FDR had a love for the open natural spaces and the wild wilderness. In that respect, he passed an executive order which transferred over 64 monuments under the National Park Service.

FDR also envisioned an international community that would prevent wars in the future. This is something he got from president Wilson who was a believer in the 'League of Nations'

Woodrow Wilson left the White House physically shaken but tranquil, confident that his vision of America as the central figure in a League of Nations would be realized in due time.

While his stubbornness or bodily collapse may have prevented him from achieving the ambition that was within his reach in 1919, there is no doubt that his ideal inspired many Americans and impacted much of American foreign policy for the rest of the century.

Theodore Roosevelt continued the progressive legacy long associated with Abraham Lincoln's party, while characterizing the modern president as a protector of the nation's common welfare.

Wilson turned a party rooted in Southern conservatism and big-city machine politics, which had rejected William Jennings Bryan's reform proposals, into a progressive force.

With his election, the Democratic Party adopted a reformist stance, while the Republican Party turned to the right.
