Agricultural runoff is the water from rain or
irrigation that flows away from farm fields due to the inability of the soil to
absorb or retain the water. Agricultural runoff flows and absorbs pollutants,
which are then deposited into water bodies such as ponds, lakes. Pollutants such
as soil particles, pesticides, heavy metals, salts, and nutrients
such as nitrogen and phosphorus are present in agricultural runoff.
