A tech deck is a miniature skateboard toy. A certain tech deck is 3.8” long, and it is a scale model of a skateboard that is 31.75” long.

(a) What is the scale factor for the tech deck?

(b) If the width of the actual skateboard is 8”, what is the width of the tech deck?

(c) Measure the length of your own foot. If you were designing a doll that was a scale model of you, and you wanted it to be able to use the tech deck as its skateboard, how long should the doll’s foot be? Explain your reasoning.

A: The scale is about 1:8.4. I found this by dividing 31.75 by 3.8.

B: To find the width of the tech deck, just divide the width of 8 by 8.4. It will be about 0.95 inches wide.

C: To do this, you will have to use the same steps to find a scale factor between your feet and the doll's feet.
