The hollowness of eisenhower's new look foreign policy was shown when the united states refused to intervene in a 1956 anti communist uprising in science forums

The correct answer here is Hungary.

When the uprising against communism erupted in Hungary in 1956 Eisenhower did intervene. This was in line with is "New Look" foreign policy which was focused on more of a passive opposition. He did not want to use traditional military forces, but he fought communism by using nuclear weapons as a deterrent and using CIA to undertake covert operations. He was more focused on sustaining US economy and strengthening alliances with non aligned countries.
