The
concept of individual rights helped in facing realities of economic oppressions
in the 19th century. The idea of progressive economics aimed at
dealing with the frequent realities of economic depressions, workplace hazards,
low wages and assault on labor rights. The concept was also aimed at addressing
the issues of mass unemployment, public health related issues, mass
unemployment and political corruption at all government levels. To move
forward, human rights moves were adopted to employ the positive power of the
state while strengthening democratic control over the economy.
