The cell membrane is semipermeable, meaning that only certain molecules and substances can pass through the cell membrane.;

The movement of particles from high concentration to low concentration gradient that uses a carrier protein is called Facilitated diffusion. In facilitated diffusion, the protein channels or carrier protein in the cell membranes allows the particles to move in or move out of the cell from high concentration down to their low concentration gradient.
