In order to reproduce, many flowering plants use external agents, such as insects or birds, to aid in the pollination process. The plants put out colorful and fragrant flowers to attract the insects to aid in the pollination process. Insects like butterflies are highly sensitive to the bright colors. They get attracted to the flower on seeing the bright color. Birds are sensitive to both color and odor. They visit those plants that either have colorful or fragrant flowers. Thus become carriers of the pollen grains and cause pollination.
