Moral judgments reflect intuition. Gut level intuition is that immediate response we give out and strongly believe in even without any rational basis. These are the feelings we could not shake off just yet and instead, we believe that these feelings could be true. An intuition happens in the conscious level of thinking but how we believe in it without facts could probably occur at the unconscious level, making it a bit easier to decipher if it's in the middle of both or not.
