Recall the last time you worked or studied in a group. Describe whether this particular experience was a successful or an unsuccessful group experience, and explain WHY you feel it was either effective or ineffective. What specific things could you have done to improve the group dynamics?

The last time I worked in a group it was a successful experience for me. It was successful and effective because not so much pressure or stress was put onto me as one individual but it was disbursed equally with me and the individuals in my group. Some specific things I could have improved in my group would to be more communication between the other individuals and I because communication is key to group activities and projects.

Group activities are opportunities for people to demonstrate their interpersonal skills. The last time I worked in a group was when our Computer teacher instructed us to develop a code.

  • The experience was successful because we all were patient with each other and listened to the suggestions of one another.
  • At a point when we became tensed because the deadline for submission was at hand, I should have calmed the group and encouraged them to be focused as we would arrive at a solution soon.

The group discussion above afforded us the opportunity to demonstrate patience, listening abilities, and empathy with each other.

The group members tried to demonstrate these and we were successful in the end.
