supernova is the answer A super nova can trigger the begining of a new star's life cycle. A star produces energy by converting hydrogen gas to helium. Once all the hydrogen in the core is used up a super massive explosion called a super nova can be triggerd. The resulting explosion leaves behing gas and dust which can eventually be pulled together by gravity over millions of years triggering the birth of a new star. Only massive stars end their lives in a supernova.
