The New England Courant was founded by James Franklin. Benjamin Franklin's older brother. He used the publishing for writing essays and letters as an alternative to the typical addresses issued by governors.
The Virginia Gazette was founded by William Parks. It contained theatrical notices and focused on depicting the social life of the town. Something, that had not happened until then.
