In 1915, Germany, who wanted to bleed the Britain dry of supplies, declare the water around the British Isles a war zone and thus they attack all ships that entered be that military or trade ships with civilians. The US strongly condemned this action and for a while the attacks stopped but soon continued. This prompted US to join the war.
