A gene. Genes are expressed through the phenotype, and a single gene codes for a specific trait, such as a gene for hair color or eye color.
A section of DNA that codes for a specific trait is called a gene.
This segment of DNA coding for a specific trait is located in the chromosome and contains a set of information. The gene codes for a particular protein which determines the traits or phenotype of any individual. The basic unit of heredity in an individual is a gene.
There are several genes which can encode for multiple proteins through alternative splicing and the coding sequence gets split into a small section in the genome and their mRNA are concatenated by trans-splicing.
