Tandem master cylinders are used in typical anti-lock braking system. Master cylinders convert force exerted from the brakes pedals into hydraulic pressure to activate wheel brake units. There are two types of master cylinders namely single piston and tandem (used in modern vehicles). Anti-lock braking system is a safety system that allows the wheels in a motor vehicle to maintain tractive contact with the surface of the road according to the input of the driver while braking, preventing the wheels from locking up (fail to rotate) and avoiding uncontrolled skidding.
