They had stamps and limitations, kind of like an allowance but only for food & gas. People could only fill up their tanks on Sundays, and only a certain amount, people also could only buy a certain amount of food too. A stamp sheet or something similar was required to keep track of peoples' intake. This is how did the government regulations impacted the lives of civilians.
