The general trend is that it took more and more Livres to equal a US dollar over time from 1643 to 1715.
The value of the Livre has decreased because over time, it takes more and more Livres to equal a U.S. dollar. In 1683, it took only 220 (mmm) to equal a U.S. dollar. In 1992, a single Livre was worth $10.50 U.S. dollars so the Livre was more valuable in 1992 than in 1715.

The graph has a constant growth with the exception of the year 1683, where there was a significant decrease in livres. (From 700 to 250 approximately)

However, in the following years it continues to show a constant growth. From 1699 to 1708, it grew more that double that it had on previous periods. You may have seen an external factor on you classes that explains this fact.
