Ekman conducted a series of studies through which he found that there are six basic human emotions that are found globally across cultures and geography. These emotions are:

1. Anger
2. Disgust 
3. Fear
4. Surprise
5. Happiness
6. Sadness

Ekman claimed that these universal emotions are primarily expressed through facial expressions. 

Human emotions are the set of emotions and behaviors involving the characteristics of love, care, and commitment. Emotions are the way to express the feelings of the person for the other ones.

The view that human emotions are universal has been supported by the studies of facial expression. The facial expressions are also of various varieties.  

These emotions are:

5. Happiness

6. Sadness
