The human population is in an era of unprecedented growth. Developing countries typically have a birth rate well above replacement and some of the largest nations in the world have just recently become fully developed or are still developing: China and India. Their growth still outpaces the entirety of Europe which, on average, has a birthrate well below replacement. This low birthrate is typical of a first world country.
