Respuesta :

Reason 1: if cells grow too big, then they will have more difficulty transporting wastes and nutrients across the cell membrane.

Reason 2: if the cell grows too big, then it would put a much bigger demand on the DNA than if it were smaller.

Two reasons that cells divide rather than continue to grow indefinitely -

  • a) The larger a cell becomes the more demand the cell places onto its DNA.
  • b) The larger a cell becomes, the more trouble the cell has moving nutrients and wastes across the cell membrane.

The reasons why cells divide can be for numerous purposes-

  • As seen from the perspective of mitotic division, in which the no of chromosomes is conserved,i.e.,46 chromosomes in human somatic cells. Cells can divide through mitosis to replace the worn out or dead cells in the body of living organism.
  • Another reason why cell division is required and takes place can be to form the germ cells/gametes/sex cells(sperm and ovum). In this case the no of chromosomes is halved (23 chromosomes present in sperm and egg cells each).

Thus,

Two reasons that cells divide rather than continue to grow indefinitely -

  • a) The larger a cell becomes the more demand the cell places onto its DNA.
  • b) The larger a cell becomes, the more trouble the cell has moving nutrients and wastes across the cell membrane.
