A torque of 12 N • m is applied to a solid, uniform disk of radius 0.50 m, causing the disk to accelerate at 5.7 rad/s2. What is the mass of the disk?

τ = Iα (torque equation)

Moment of inertia of disc about axis perpendicular to the plane of disc and passing through its centre = MR²/2 

∴  12 =  MR²/2 × 5.7
∴  12 =  M(0.5)²/2 × 5.7 
∴   M = 12 × 2 /5.7 × 0.5² = 16.84 Kg
