Donations to an annual fundraiser are 15% greater than last year. Last year, donations were greater 10% than the year before. The amount raised this year is $10,120. How much were raised 2 years ago?

let the donation for this year be x

let the donation for the previous year be y

and, let the donation for 2 years ago be z.

Donation were 10% greater than a year before .

Donation  were 15% greater that year than its previous year i.e. 2 years ago.

Now,

x=  115/100y

and, y= 110/100z

So, from above equation we know

x= 115/100y*110/100z

Also, x=  $10,120.

So,  $10,120.= 1.15y*1.10z

$10,120.= 1.2650z

z= 10120/1.126

z=8000

Hence, amount of 8000 was raise before 2 years ago.
