10/17 equals a very long decimal number.
You can either divide it until you get three digits after the decimal point and then round the number [i.e. 10/17 = 0.588 (but you round it) to equal 0.59]. Keep in mind that the actual decimal is going to be much longer if you keep dividing. Another way you could divide 10 by 17, would be if you did it like this: you write out 17 divided by 10, then you put a decimal point on the top, and bring down a zero, making it 17 divided by 100. Then you write 5 on front of the decimal point on the top and deduct 85 from 100 (17x5 = 85). Then you have a remainder of 15. Then you bring down another 0, (from the decimal) to make it 150. From 150 you will deduct 136 because that is the closest number, 17 goes into 150 8 times (8x17 = 136) and you have 14 left as remainder. Now you already have two digits on front of your decimal point, so you can just write 14/17 in fraction form on front of you two decimal digits >> 0.58 and 14/17 in fraction form. This is also a valid answer, and is simpler to solve then finding all the whole decimal, so I recommend using this method.
