11. Divide this figure into two rectangles. It will be rectangle KVDZ and rectangle YPGT.
Side KV and ZD are both 62 yards. KZ is 52 yards, so VD needs to be 52 too.
You can find the area by doing l×w.
62 × 52 = 3224
Now find the area of the other rectangle. YP is 68, PG is 54.
68 × 54 = 3672
Now all you do is add these two together.
The answer is 6896 yards.

12. Do the same thing here as in number 11.
AQ is 69, AT is 57.
69 × 57 = 3933
GK is 24, KV is 37.
37 × 24 = 888
The answer is 4821 feet.

I know when you first look at these questions, in your mind your going like "ahhhh!  what do I do?"  but do not worry, this is MUCH easier than it looks...

We will be using the Area Formula:

A = l * w


Now for question 11 we see 2 sets of rectangles...

We also see a missing gap in between Points V and T, but this is okay, because the side parallel to this gapped line is the exact length of that missing gap (plus the line under it).

So we know that Rectangle A - length is: 52yd  (point K to Z)

We also know that Rectangle A - Width is: 62yd (point K to V)

Now Rectangle B will work the exact same way for us (expect we will be using the line above the gap, and the line parallel to thus)...

We know that Rectangle B - length is: 54yd (point P to G)

We also know that Rectangle B - width is: 68yd (point Y to P)

The area of Rectangle A is: A = 52 * 62 = 3224yd

The area of Rectangle B is: A = 54 * 68 = 3672yd


Question 12, we yet again see that missing gap (the "ahhh! what do I do?"), but we will work this the EXACT same way we worked Question 11. 

That missing gap plus the line under it, is the exact same length as the one parallel to it, we will use that line as the length of Rectangle A.

We know that Rectangle A - length is: 37yd (point K to V)

We also know that Rectangle B - width is: 24yd (point G to K)

Now for Rectangle B, we will be solving it the exact same way (except we will be using the line above it, and the line parallel of thus)...

We know that Rectangle B - length is: 57yd (point A to T)

We also know that Rectangle B - width is: 69yd (point A to Q)

The Area of Rectangle A is: A = 37 * 24 = 888yd

The Area of Rectangle B is: A = 57 * 69 = 3933yd
