Answer: intentional release
Asian carp is the genus of fish typically belonging to the Cyprinid family such as koi, goldfish and common carp. It was introduced intentionally in the southern United States by humans to control the problem of algal blooms and population of snail parasites in aquaculture facilities, sewage lagoons and farm ponds. They were used because of their efficient feeding capacity. They can feed 5- 40% of their body weight. They can feed a variety of food reserves in the aquatic systems like phytoplanktons, zooplanktons, native invertebrates, some of the fish species and mussels.
