Suppose the leftmost digits of two numbers are 8 and 3 . Can you tell which number is greater? Explain.

That depends on the two numbers, but if both of them had the same amount of digits, the 8 would be greater. Example is 85 and 35, 8 is for 80 and 35 is for 30. 856 and 356, and so on and so on. If the number of digits was different and we had let's say 85 and 365, then the 3 would be greater because it would stand for 300 and 8 would stand for 80.Hope this helps. Let me know if you need additional help!

Answer:

From the question, it seems like both values have the same digits and one has 8 at leftmost and one has 3. From this scenario, the value with digit 8 at leftmost will be higher of course. for example. 85 and 35 or 870 or 370 etc.

But if the values do not contain the same digits then the case can be different, for example, 82 and 365 or 8 and 3000 etc.
