C. Cytokinesis follows mitosis. After interphase (when the cell's DNA replicates and prepares for mitosis), the cell undergoes mitosis (the splitting of the nucleus). Cytokinesis occurs afterwards when the cell's and their membranes completely separate, forming two identical cells.
