Hey!

Let's write it, [tex]3x-7=4x[/tex]
Add [tex]7[/tex] to both sides,
[tex]3x-7+7=4x+7[/tex]
[tex]3x=4x+7[/tex]
Subtract [tex]4x[/tex] from both sides.
[tex]3x-4x=4x+7-4x[/tex]
[tex]-x=7[/tex]
Since we don't want a negative variable, we have to divide both sides by [tex]-1[/tex].
[tex]\frac{-x}{-1}=\frac{7}{-1}[/tex]
Our answer would be,
[tex]x=-7[/tex]

Thanks!

3x - 7 = 4x

We're basically just trying to take all of the variables & put it onto one side, and then move everything else to the other side :)

So, we must add 7 to both sides.

3x = 4x + 7

Then, we subtract 4x from both sides.

3x - 4x = 7

Simplify.

-x = 7

Divide both sides by -1.

x = -7

To check our work, we simply need to plug in -7 for x in our given equation :)

3x - 7 = 4x

3(-7) - 7 = 4(-7)

Simplify.

-21 - 7 = -28

-28 = -28

Therefore, x = -7

~Hope I helped!~
