The cold protective response may be activated when a person's face is submerged in water that is less than 68 degrees fahrenheit. When a person suddenly drowns in a cold water, immediate
numbness occurs which can cause shock and panic. And because you are shocked
with what just happened, you feel that everything is going numb which can
result to muscle strain and ineptness of the joint. When a person tries to
grasp for air, it is water that comes in not air because everything is going
numb. After a person feels numb, he will suffer for hypothermia. If nobody can
rescue that person, he may become out cold and can die.
