To answer this item, we let x be the distance separating Bob's home and workplace. Time is calculated by dividing the distance by the speed. It should be noted that every hour contains 60 minutes. 
         
                                x/60 + x/50 = 1 + 28/60
The value of x from the equation is 40. Thus, the distance from Bob's home to workplace is 40 miles.
