Why did the colonists believe they should not be taxed by the british government? they wanted to pay taxes to the american government they can't be taxed if they are not represented in government they thought the tax rate was too low they couldn't afford to pay taxes?
it wasn't that they couldn't pay, it was just like the Hati revolution in a way, they were being taxed by a government that was across the ocean, and provided no benefits to the colonist, like roads or public services. Except military of course.
