In 1962, the Soviet Union was building missile sites in Cuba. The Cuban Missle crisis brought fear to an already alert public that the communists were bringing danger. There was a lot of nationalism so consequently lots of name-calling and tension but little violence. The Cuban Missle Crisis, on the other hand, brought a lot of paranoia.
