John Hunter's major contribution to modern medicine was his surgical techniques. When John was 20 years old he went to study at his brothers school for anatomy. He then went on to serve as a surgeon during the Seven Year War with the British Army. His contributions to medicine were numerous. He himself transformed surgery to a experimental science from the manual craft that it was. John Hunter also founded the Hunterian Museum, started scientific dentistry in Britain, and performed new techniques for treating aneurysms. He was known to be one of the best orthopedic surgeons in the world.
