5 star coffee : f(x) = 8x + 40....or y = 8x + 40
custom coffee : f(x) = 12.5x + 25 or y = 12.5x + 25
the monthly fee of custom coffee, which has a monthly fee (slope) of 12.5, will have a steeper slope then the monthly fee (slope) of 5 star coffee, which has a slope of 8.
8x + 40 = 12.5x + 25
40 - 25 = 12.5x - 8x
15 = 4.5x
15/4.5 = x
3 1/3 = x.......so they would cost the same at 3 1/3 months
Therefore, custom coffee would be a better deal if u were a member for less then 3 1/3 months......and 5 star coffee would be a better deal if u were there for more then 3 1/3 months
