Founded by Confucius between the 6th-5th century BC, Confucianism was  the social code and source of values followed by the Chinese people for almost two millennia.

Confucianism was a way of life for the people, even a political ideology. It was an ambient thinking that paid reverence to one's ancestors and human-centred religiousness. Regardless of being affiliated to any religion, one could continue to be a Confucian.

Unlike other religions, Confucianism is not an organized religion. But it has its roots in Chinese literate culture and has political as well as spiritual influence all over East Asia.
