Symbols are considered the signifier that represents the signified meaning. There are two main types of symbolic communication :-

  • Verbal Symbolic Communication- It refers to the communication which uses words.
  • Non - Verbal Symbolic Communication- It refers to the communication which uses sign and body language.

It is so because symbolic communication includes speech, sign language, writing (printed or braille script), image/picture communication systems, and tactile communication systems. As communication is the means of exchanging the information, ideas, opinions, etc., with each other.
