It was significant in all previous eras for the same reason, including Ancient Rome and Athens. That has not changed at all. Whether it is "today's" generation or any other previous generation doesn't really matter.
A priceless historical legacy is partially preserved in literature. It reveals, among other things, who and what we are as people. Additionally, it has both aesthetic and practical and functional significance, but mostly it serves as an excellent example of one of humanity's most crucial abilities: the ability to master the art of spoken and written communication. You must communicate clearly and effectively in both writing and speaking if you wish to succeed. Reading and studying the greatest works of humankind is the best approach to learn. Read well if you wish to communicate clearly when you talk and write.

We appreciate literature in this millennial era/period by exposing us to the lives of many individuals through their stories, it instructs us about life, and through these vicarious experiences, we gain significant lessons and ideals. Literature helps us to be human, to be understanding and sympathetic to others.
What are Millennials known for?
Millennials grew up in the new millennium and were raised in a technologically advanced society. Additionally, they were old enough to remember and understand 9/11. This generation has grown up with and experienced the evolution of technology. They are therefore regarded as being more progressive, imaginative, and forward-thinking than previous generations.
Through literature, one can travel through time and learn about life on Earth from those who came before us. We can learn more about different cultures and develop a deeper appreciation for them. We get knowledge via the methods used to record history, including manuscripts and verbal communication.
