Regulators is a nonverbal cues which people rely on to know when they should talk and when they should listen.

They allow/let the people adapt the speaker's speech to reflect the level of interests, agreements and understanding with him. Few examples of 'regulators' are head nods, short sounds i.e., Uh!, Oh!, etc. They follow the rule of turn-taking so that one can exchange his/her opinion by framing it as an argument to the speaker.

The cues are there to indicate when the people wants to take part/say something in addition to the discussion. One's body language help regulate in a group discussion.

In nonverbal communication all aspects are included except the words. It includes the gestures, body language, etc.
