In any life stage an individual is navigating through, when it comes to personal relationships, the exchange between humans always involve some sort of conflict. In fact, when relationships are normal conflict needs to exists, as a lack of it may be a warning sign for the people involved in it. Nevertheless, ongoing conflict in a relationship is a sign that the individuals are not working together to solve that conflict.

These are three possible ways to approach conflict resolution in order to sustain a healthy relationship:

  1. Consider the other person's point of view: try to always consider the other person's point of view. when doing so, it is probably to find a middle ground solution that makes both sides content.
  2. Do not avoid the problem: By avoiding the conflict itself, people accumulate anger in an unhealthy way, which sooner or later always comes to surface in a more violent or aggressive manner if confronted when it occurred.
  3. Work toward a solution: conflict for the sake of it is a waste of energy and time. When facing a problem, the attitude should always be the one of solving it so that both parties can move forward. In order to solve an issue, it is always important to know the power of grace and forgiveness and not to get the anger get a hold of the situation.

-Reach a point of agreement between the two conflicting claims, moderating both positions to achieve a balance between them, where the parties win and lose in a similar proportion.

-Impose mediation through an impartial third party, who will resolve the issue based on their criteria.
