Who is Madam Walker?
Madam Walker was the first Black Woman millionairess in America. She was born very poor, started working by the age of two, and was orphaned by the time she was six years old.
By the time she was twenty years old, she became a widow. At the time of her death in 1919, her net worth was over $1 million dollars.
She made her fortune from homemade cosmetic (haircare) products for black women.
