Western European countries had many differences with the Soviet Union for much of the 20th century. Once the Soviet Union disintegrated and the Russian Federation was established, different aspects of the Western world influenced this country.
As shown in the table Russia and Western European countries have several similarities including technological advances and social status. This is because these countries began modernization processes from the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. These processes impacted different aspects of society such as education, health, transport, construction, among others.
