Let the number of CDS in full cases be "x"

  • If Abu has 2 full cases of cds and 18 loose cds, this is expressed as 2x + 18

  • If Sola has 3 full cases of cds and 6 loose cases of cds, this is expressed as 3x + 6

If Abu and sola have the same number of cds, hence;

2x + 18 = 3x + 6

Collect the like terms:

2x - 3x = 6 - 18

-x = -12

x = 12

Number of CDs Abu case hold = 2x + 18

Number of CDs Abu case hold = 2(12) + 18

Number of CDs Abu case hold = 24 + 18
