1. The term "Effective listening" means the situation where the listener is actively absorbing the information supplied by the speaker and may enable him/her to provide effective feedback to the speaker as well.

2. Non-Listening is said to happen when we pretend to pay full attention to a communication interaction.
Below are explanation of the forms of Non-listening:
- Pseudo listening is when a person mind is somewhere else whereas the person pretends to be listening to the conversation.
- Selective Listening is when a person focusing on some selective parts of the communication because that is what interests him/her.
- Literal Listening is a form of listening that occur when a person believes what is said without assessing or interpreting the information that is shared with him.
- Monopolizing is a situation when we focus speeches on ourselves rather than listening to the person who is speaking.
