The above excerpt contrasts the experiences and motivations of the descendants of enslaved people and Creoles in saying that:

Enslaved people were denied opportunity but Creoles had good opportunities with some of them even studying in Europe.
Enslaved people used more rudimentary musical instruments whilst the Creoles used classical instruments
Enslaved people created songs with emotion whilst Creoles played classical music.
