The dependent variable (fx) is the output or you can say... For every value of the independent variable (x)...There's a unique value for the dependent variable.

Ok... Lemme explain

Say you have an equation

f(x)=2x+1

let x be take value from all natural Numbers (1,2,3..….)

When x is 1

f(x) = f(1) = 2(1)+1

=3

when x is 2

f(x)=f(2) = 2(2)+1 =5.

So for every x value... There's a unique value for f(x).
