Abigail and Proctor are ex-lovers. This was discovered in the first act of The Crucible. Abagail used to work for Proctors until Elizabeth, the wife, found out about the affair and sacked her. Abagail was an orphan living with his uncle Parris. She and the other girls in their village always go to the woods dancing and pretending to cast spells. When the villagers found out on this one and also to an event about Betty, the assume that the incident was caused by an evil.
