Water changes the shape of Earth in the following ways-

  • The running water such as rivers and streams causes the disintegration of rocks into smaller pieces. This is called weathering which changes the topographic features.
  • The weathered rock pieces are easily eroded with moving water. The water deposits the rocks in newer places which create new landforms.
  • The property of water to dissolve a large number of substances is majorly responsible for changing the Earth's surface as it helps in the transport of a large number of materials such as soil, rocks, etc. to different places.
  • For example- The North Indian Plains are created due to the erosional and depositional activities of rivers draining that region.
